Background

Ecoscope has not just appeared out of nowhere. Before the hands-on museum was developed a lot of research was carried out. The basis for Ecoscope is a report, ‘durable Technological Research’, that consist of six parts. The Research looked at how develop a lasting society using different ways and new techniques. Several ministries, universities and large companies have worked together to compile this report.

But you're not there yet. Ecoscope needs to be built and that costs money. We have received donations from among others Eurregio Scheldemond, a co-operation between the provinces West and East Flanders in Belgium and Zeeland. There is a sister project to Ecoscope in Blankenberge in Belgium and this site is also built up using the principles of another
European project Distinct. So as you can see Ecoscope is being noticed abroad.

The council of Schouwen Duiveland which includes Renesse of the Ecoscope has added the financial contribution. The beautiful sun panels that are situated on the roof and supply a green current are financed by the same council,
Delta Nutsbedrijven and Shell Solar.

Also the Rabobank has made an environmentally conscious contribution. This bank also contributes in other ways. The work closely with Shell Solar and Greenpeace on the Solaris project. This is a project whereby everyone can acquire sun panels at a reduced price for their own home. But that is another story…..
